A Rockport, Maine photographer traveled to Washington state, and was taken by the long views possible when trees don't block the horizon.

Xspot is where the illusion meets reality.

The result is a series of photographs (of Walla Walla!) which you may buy ($1200) but which also double as wallpaper within your browser if you open to full screen. The 40 photos have been dropped into a slideshow that shifts images every 30 seconds if you don't move it along manually. Unlike slideshows made with Flash, which are actually movies, this display lets you download any single image.

scallopshell.gifThe vistas grabbed my eye, but I think reader Rachel Ritchie, who emailed the link, was actually pointing me to the custom papers that the artist -- identified only as BAP -- had designed for real walls.

Eyetiles.com is the link that leads to all of this.

Wonderful pix! Thanks for the link. Wish I could afford the 1200 bucks.

Last time I was in the Walla Walla area, it was the dead of summer and 105 degrees. All the color that you see here had been sunburned and parched into oblivion. BAP obviously timed his trip perfectly.
