I keep the garden blogs list, but do I garden myself?

I try. I spend far too much time online for the good of my waistline, my housekeeping and my garden. The weeds gain ground.

nikon.jpgOne year I will not be working in spring, and I will fall into a natural rhythm with nature, noticing the signs and tending to the needs of seedlings and soil. I will not always be too late, too little.

But I try. And I eke out a wild pleasure from what survives my neglect.

This morning I gave the mosquitos a feast as I carried my camera deep into the throats of some flowers, alarming sleeping spiders along the way.

The camera is a fairly old Nikon Coolpix 950, which requires more decisions than I can usually make on the fly to do sharp closeups. (I bought it used from a friend who wanted more successes.) Here are some of the ones that worked. Click the thumbs to pop up a larger image.

Hibiscus. Smoke bush, ferns, a vining weed.
Wave petunia. Yellow-throated petunia.
A tiny heirloom tomato Zucchini in a tree.

Nice pictures, especially the image of petunia. I have some of them in my garden, moreover, these are my lovely flowers.
