Updated Tuesday, 3:09 p.m. with new listings in red.

Some sites suggested in the comments are bulletin boards, or "sites with Rhode Island contributors." For now, I'd like to stick with plain-vanilla Greater Rhode Island blogs. We'll revisit everythng else later.

When the Southern New England Bloggers site went down, we lost a handy list of local blogs. In the blogroll at right, I linked to an archived page at The Wayback Machine, but it's lame.

So I've spent much of the night trying to start a new list.

Before I paste it in, a polite request and a few notes:

If you know of other local blogs -- especially your own -- that are currently active, please pipe up at the comments link below, or click the envelope icon to send me an email. If your blog is listed but you want to include/exclude your name, add your hometown, add or change the short description, email or comment.

When it's more comprehensive I'll put the list into a standalone html file you may mirror or link to on your own blog. I don't own this list.

If a blog hasn't updated in more than a month, it's not here.

You may remember my blog, Backstage at the Narrows http://backstageatthenarrows.blogspot.com/

It features music reviews, interviews and other doings associated with the Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River, MA, a non-profit, all volunteer arts organization.

In addition to my participation on the "right" side of the blogosphere, I have a "topical" blog dealing with history in general (though politics does seep in), called Spinning Clio (http://cliopolitical.blogspot.com/). Also, here are a few other "right" sites with Rhode Island contributors:

The Autonomist (http://antiprotester.blogspot.com/), Rocco DiPippo, "Ted", David S. Crystal and Denis Schulz.

The Senescent Man (http://senescence.blogspot.com/) Chuck Nevola, Leslie Nevola, Gary Boden, David A. Todd and Steve Graham.

Kellipundit (http://kellipundit.blogspot.com/) "Kellipundit" and "SeanO"

Thanks for the mention, Sheila.
