I can't be the only one shocked by the prices at the farmer's market at Hope High School Saturday morning.

Fortunately, there are bargains to be had on the edges.

Kathryn Fanning, selling produce from Cook's Valley Farm in Wrentham, Mass., offered boxes of "imperfect" tomatoes -- big beautiful tomatoes, to me -- for $5, and prices on produce were generally lower at that spot on the far right of the driveway. When I asked if I could take her picture, she said, "I don't have to smile, do I? This is serious farming."

Bonus: There's a coupon on their Web site for a free summer squash or "tomato item" at any of the farmer's markets they attend.
