Part 1, earlier this week. And later, Part 3 and Part 4. Finally, what I plan to make for my family.

Scrambling ahead of the great wave of recipes tomorrow... here are side-dish recipes scraped from newspaper food sections that publish on Monday. If a recipe apeals to you, copy it to a text editor -- some of these may roll into archives before you need them.

Lacinato kale (also known as Italian heirloom kale, black cabbage, dinosaur kale, cavolo nero or Tuscan kale) is pictured at right.

Onions in Cream

24 pearl onions

Sauce:
2 T. butter
2 T Flour
1 c. half and half
1/2 t. salt
Dash cloves
1 T. chopped parsley, optional

Put pearl onions in boiling water for no more that three minutes, drain and cool. Peel (or push from skins).

For sauce, combine -- over low heat butter -- flour, half and half, salt, cloves and parsley. Heat thoroughly and add onions. This can be made ahead and reheated.
