JMparisBks.jpgTrue Confession - Joni Mitchell Paris 1972
Live at the L'Olympia Theatre, Paris, June 15, 1972. Very good audience recording.

While Mitchell might still be pushing her Blue album at this Paris 1972 concert, she treated her audience by previewing seven tracks from the (then) forthcoming For The Roses - the album would only be released in November that year. Among the new songs were Electricity; Cold Blue Steel And Sweet Fire; See You Sometime; Banquet; Lesson In Survival; the title track; and the hit single, You Turn Me On I'm A Radio.

This is a sparkling performance by Mitchell who commands the stage and your attention, and she does this with practically an acoustic set-up - just guitars and a piano. While the crowd are appreciative, they probably did not realise at that time how fortunate they were to witness Mitchell scaling the heights of her songwriting or just to see her performing tunes from the remarkable Blue and soon-to-released For The Roses.
