Help with your new tech

Got some new tech stuff for Christmas?

Stuck already on some aspect of it? Does it do something you wish it wouldn't, or not do something you wish it would?

Azadeh Ensha of the New York Times wants to help, and offers a list of sites that do, too: There's Lots of Tech Help, Yes, on the Internet.

Over the years, I've found it's often easiest to type your problem into a search engine: "Turn off Windows auto-update," "how do I twitter?" "import bookmarks" or just "got a new computer."

Somebody else has already had the same problem, no matter what it may be. Try rephrasing it in several ways, and put in the critical keywords based on your results (Windows, XP, Mac, iTunes, Firefox, for instance).

If it's Firefox you're looking at, remember there are many extensions for it that can expand its function. Browse them sometime from inside Firefox: Tools-->Add-ons.
