Bottom-up journalism from the pros: News, tech and culture by Sheila Lennon

An American story, elegantly told

The Inauguration. At Last. may be the most interesting feature story I've seen on a news site. It's by Maira Kalman, and on her Opinion section blog, And the Pursuit of Happiness at the New York Times.

New, because it lacks elements that make the official voice archaic -- a formal idiom, gratuitous quotes, forty inches -- and injects the 5½ th "W": Value.

The last sentence on the page:

"And the Pursuit of Happiness," about American democracy, will appear on the last Friday of each month.

Hi - Sheila,

I read that yesterday, was so glad that she's back and you're introducing her new piece to people who might not have been familiar with her work.

I really missed her when she stop doing her monthly piece. I am a big fan of her unique writing and illustration style.
