The RSS feed of our River of News is now working

I woke up in the middle of the night and fixed the RSS template of our MultiBlog / River of News blog. It lists and links the latest posts in all projo blogs as they publish, so you can see headlines and links from all projo blogs at a glance.

You can now get a feed of links and short excerpts of the latest entries in all projo blogs chronologically in realtime. The link for your RSS reader is http://riverofnews.projo.com/index.xml. You can also turn it on by clicking the little RSS icon in the navigation links at the top of that blog.

We're getting ready to upgrade to the newest version of Movable Type, and aggregating all the blogs into one feed was a leftover issue from our last upgrade. It would be handy feed to get on your cellphone.

I seem to be dreaming in code again, as I woke up knowing I could fix it this time. And yes, again, an upset stomach did the waking.

Keith Richards awoke from a dream with "Satisfaction" in his head and only had to write it down. We dream of code. So it goes!

The river of news feed is quite good. The headlines are clear and descriptive. Maybe it's a wee bit cheap on how much text is being sent but there is still enough to tell whether to read the article.

Your blog was the only Projo feed to which I was subscribed previously but now the river of news will stay in my newsreader as well. Nicely done!

Very nice!

Thanks, guys. Jef, you're a great touchstone for me. A coupla times I've made something and thought, "Jef will like this."

Silas, your appreciation is much appreciated. The last time this dreaming happened, I'd been deep in code. But after the last upgrade I needed to leave it alone for awhile, and I'm just gearing up to start work on the next one. So I wouldn't have expected it to start a new phase. I've been reading European detective novels rather than docs. (And yes, the captcha is tricky. Sometimes I zoom it and find it isn't what I thought it was.)

We tried the feed today on a Google Phone, which went to Google Reader, and a new iPhone, which found the Mac RSS Reader, and both displayed the headlines and took you to the original blog post.

We haven't seen it on a BlackBerry yet.

An old Samsung phone said it couldn't load it. Of course, it's just a phone.
