Bob Dylan.com -- the homepage -- offers a free mp3 download of Beyond Here Lies Nothin' from his new album, Together Through Life. Monday and Tuesday only, says MeFi and others. Less, say a few more. It's there now. May not be there tomorrow. It's a lively tune, for late Dylan. David Hidalgo of Los Lobos plays accordion and Heartbreaker Mike Campbell is on lead guitar -- there's a lot of energy again. Sounds good. "...listen to me pretty baby, lay your hand upon my head/ beyond here lies nothin', nothin' done and nothin' said..."
What's drawing the most attention is the cover photo, which was taken by legendary photographer Bruce Davidson. The shot was also used in the 2005 Dylan documentary No Direction Home and, as Baltimore Magazine points out, it was on the cover of Larry Brown's book Big Bad Love. Dylan is apparently a big fan of Brown and has claimed to have "read every word the man's ever written." Check out more of Davidson's photos here. The Dylan album cover is drawn from the Brooklyn Gang series. The official release date is April 28. |
