Meet Bo, the First Dog, from The White House Blog.
Remember the Barbara Walters interview with Barack and Michelle Obama November 26?
BARACK OBAMA: What is a Havanese?WALTERS: Oh, it's like a little...it's like a little terrier. And they're non-allergenic, and they're the sweetest dogs in the world.
BARACK OBAMA (practically recoiling): But, but it's a...it's like a little yappy dog.
MICHELLE OBAMA: Don't criticize.
BARACK OBAMA: Yeah, it like sits in your lap and things?
MICHELLE OBAMA: Yes, it's a cute dog. (Laughs)
BARACK OBAMA: It sounds kind of like a...a girly dog.
MICHELLE OBAMA: We're girls. We have a house full of girls. (Laughs)
BARACK OBAMA (motioning with his hands): Well...well, we're gonna have a big, rambunctious dog.
No you're not.
WaPo is all over the dog formerly named Charlie, from before his conception in Pennsylvania and birth Oct. 9 in Texas (A Shaggy-Dog Story: How Bo Wound Up With the Obamas) to his arrival at the White House for a job interview last month and subsequent first days as First Pet.
I hope he loses the lei. Maybe a spike collar?
The Portuguese Water Dog page at Puppy Education shows the common "lion clip" for this breed, at right, and notes,
Special Alerts This breed is not suitable for inexperienced dog owners.
I'm begging off further comments. I once had a dog named Flea but when he she died I turned to cats. Much less trouble, no weird haircuts and no yapping.
