People's Voice Webby Awards. You have to register. The Webby People's Voice Awards sponsored by Microsoft Silverlight invites the public to participate in The Webby Awards by allowing them to shout out for their favorite nominees. Choose your favorite from 5 nominees in over 100 categories including Websites, Interactive Advertising, Online Film & Video and Mobile.Voting ends Thursday. But... you can't even get in to peek at the nominees without registering. And the Twitter feed is 20th-century radio ads: "Stay tuned to our Twitter for all the details about how to win tix to the Webby Awards--details to be announced soon!" (How exactly do we "stay tuned" to your Twitter, again?) Jumped the shark for me. Used to be funky, once upon a ... Try this link to the Webbys you can't influence, instead, unless you must vote. Previous winners are linked by year there. No reg. req. In quaint old 1997, there was no "Agency/Credited Organization" column next to the nominees' names -- and no News category. (That began in 1998.) The Webbys were always best at uncovering new links to browse, but the awards now feel like ad-agency Oscar. |
