Vacuum Magic is a fast-paced action game. The point of the game is using your magical vacuum field to collect food and defend against monsters. Food and certain monsters can also be spat out and used as a projectile against other monsters.

The game is open source and can be downloaded free of charge.

It's for Windows and Linux, no Mac version.

PC World review: Vacuum Magic Is A Free, Open-Source, and Unique Side-Scrolling Game: "In side-scroller Vacuum Magic, you suck up candy and spit it at evil, tortoise-shelled bees."

Although it's technically a scroller, the action all takes place in the foreground, and I had trouble even noticing the background.

This one is a little too frenetic for me, even in Easy mode, but the 12-year-old likes the name and tries to keep up.
