Football season kicks off today, but not for us. The Patriots play tomorrow night on Monday Night Football.

So if you're looking for something interesting to do, you might peek into Pawtucket Open Studios. Artists, craftspeople and mill-based businesses at Lorraine Mills, 558 Mineral Spring Ave., Pawtucket open their studios to the public this weekend.

You can watch them work and pick up some of the art they make.

It's not all what you'd think of as art. Bam Cigar will demonstrate how they roll them in Unit # BF 119 (exterior door east side of building).

It's all free. Lots of parking, just wander around the mill bilding, stopping at studios that look interesting to you.

Another event that's under the radar: Great voices. American A Capella at Vets at 2 p.m. Women comprise the Coastline Show Chorus, men The Narragansett Bay Chorus. The Buzz is a quartet.

My former colleague Patty Fitzgerald, a member of 90-member Coastline, writes,

It's based in Providence and is in 4th place internationally in Sweet Adelines (there are 600 choruses).

We're heading to Nashville in Oct. to compete again and hoping for first. I didn't even know these guys were so competitive when I joined. I just knew they were good and rehearsed somewhat close to home (Attleboro). We have lots of members from Mass., Conn., and N.H., as well as two from Scotland and one from Australia.

The director, Gail Jencik, and her husband (Mike Maino, a local DJ) manage and live in the Music Mansion.

Tickets are $15 and $25.
