...live, Badfinger were rocking. You can't believe this hard rock band were the same that recorded Come And Get It. Here is an uncirculated show from way back in 1972 during their third American tour. If we were not informed this is an audience recording, we might have mistaken this for soundboard. It's that good. The guitars are really loud and the vocals are captured right there in the centre of the sonic image. The bass and drums rumble nicely too. It was important for street cred back then to be able to play electric guitar like Hendrix. Badfinger chose two Dave Mason numbers to show their metal - Feelin' Alright and Only You Know And I Know.

Two hits grace this brief concert, No Matter What from the No Dice album and the then-freshly minted single, Day After Day, from Straight Up. The rock 'n' roll medley showed how little of their own songs could stand up live in a rock concert.

Here's the track list:

  • Track 01. Feelin' Alright [Traffic/ Dave Mason] (11.6MB)
  • Track 02. Johnny B Goode [C Berry] (7.1MB)
  • Track 03. Only You Know And I Know [Dave Mason] (10.2MB)
  • Track 04. I Can't Take It (5.7MB)
  • Track 05. Day After Day (4.6MB)
  • Track 06. No Matter What (3.9MB)
  • Track 07. Medley: Love Me Do/ Lucille/ Rip It Up/ Long Tall Sally (8.6MB)
  • Track 08. Roll Over Beethoven (5.1MB)

It's in my headphones as I type this, and it's good.

If this band is not familiar and you're wondering why it's a surprise that this concert rocks, check out this video of the aforementioned Come and Get It, a bubble-gum tune from 1970.
