I picked up Winterland by Alan Glynn in paperback at Dublin airport to read on the plane, and just finished it.
It's a good thriller that begins with two members of the same family with the same name -- an uncle and his nephew -- both being killed on the same day. The plot unfolds with lots of twists and lots of characters, driven by a dogged female heroine who refuses to accept their deaths as coincidence.
The only Irish word in the book is "Taoiseach" -- Prime Minister, derived from "chieftain" -- and it's pronounced "T-shock." which conveys the idea that you have to learn Irish by listening. None of it is spelled as it's written.
The book is available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc., only in e-book and hardcover editions, so you might want to reserve it at the library, using one of these links.
