Man Built a Sanctuary for Homeless Cats at Animal Talk has lots of amazing pics of Caboodle Ranch, Craig Grant's nonprofit cat rescue in the woods in Lee, Fla., between Jacksonville and Tallahassee.

More than 500 cats range free on 30 acres there, free to live in a kitty village with a town hall, a police station, a Wal-Mart and lakeside motel, all in miniature. .Each cat is spayed or neutered and vaccinated, and maintained out of Craig's pocket, and via donations of pet food and cash. From the FAQ:

Craig goes through five 20lb bags of Purina Cat Chow and Friskies dry cat food every day. And it takes 5 cases of the extra large cans of Friskies moist food per feeding.

It's on Facebook, but the Caboodle website is far better. There's also a LiveJournal.

What's the reward for creating a heaven on earth for other beings?
