Overnight Google launched a new search page, titled only 'What do you love?' at a URL that's an acronym for those words, wdyl.com. On a faint pink background, you'll see,
Having played with it a bit, I understand that it's an attempt to fill in the part of your search that hard's to supply in the basic query: context. (Do you want to know what's been written about it, where to buy it, see pictures or video of it, find others who love it, etc.) Google offers, on one page, aggregated search results for more than 20 of its standalone searches such as Maps, Groups, Trends, Translate, YouTube, Patent Search, Blog Search, Gmail, Books, Voice, Earth and lesser-known ones such as Moderator and SketchUp.
But at first I didn't know what it was about, and foreswore my first thought (chocolate) in favor of something less obvious:
Chocolate and cats work better. Their patent searches are fascinating.
Lter: Searching "string theory" didn't work so well. The Picasa photo section turned up a leering photo of "Mr. Pregnant."
